Learn Spanish in Santiago de Compostela at the Anglican Pilgrim Centre

We will learn, sing and worship in Spanish using the new translation of El Libro de Oración Común (2022)

Located in the northwest tip of Spain, at the end of the historic Camino, Santiago de Compostela has received Christian pilgrims since the 9th Century.
Language Levels: Beginner and Intermediate
The Anglican Pilgrim Centre (AnglicanPilgrimCentre.org)offers hospitality and space for prayer, reflection, and renewal to all pilgrims and visitors, serves as a global, ecumenical religious center representing the voice of the Anglican Communion in Spain, and fosters dialogue and cooperation among various faith traditions.
The Centre owns and manages theCasa Anglicana de Peregrinos, located in the historic section of Santiago. It offers a range of room types, and guests have appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, comfort, and breakfast offered.
Schedule of workshop
Sunday, January 11- participants gather. 7:00 pm welcome with light tapas dinner.
Monday- Friday – breakfast 7:30-9:00
Morning classes – 9:30-12:30
Lunch on own
Afternoon cultural tours of city, cathedral, museums, market with opportunity to practice Spanish
5:00 pm evensong and or Eucharist at Santa Susana
Dinner either together in Casa or on own in Santiago cook together and share typical Spanish cuisine.
Celebratory graduation celebration Friday, January 17. Bishop Carlos celebrate Eucharist at Santa Susana after which he will teach us to make Paella and Quemada.

Instructors:
Hugo Olaiz (Intermediates): A native from Argentina, Hugo is the assistant editor for Latino/Hispanic ministries in Forward Movement. He holds a Master’s degree in Spanish and is the translator of the 2022 edition of the El Libro de Oración Común. Hugo has served in various committees of the Episcopal Church at the parish, diocesis, and churchwide levels. Hugo describing the new Libro de Oración Común:https://shorturl.at/jPGA1 .
John-Charles Duffy (Beginners): John-Charles teaches American Religious History at Miami University, and served for 2 ½ years as missionary in the Dominican Republic. He has created various English and Spanish musical resources for the Episcopal Church, including the English translation of Room in the Inn: Ideas for Celebrating Posadas (VenAdelante.org/posadas ).
