Casa Anglicana Became Ours

Since my first time on the Camino in 2019, I have watched the inspiring work of the Friends of the Anglican Pilgrim Center. In 2023, years of work and prayer, vision, and tenacity brought the Center into being. And I became, just by the luck of timing, the first priest to preside over the Eucharist at Casa Anglicana.

We gathered around a long table with benches, picnic style. The bread and the wine were unconventional, to say the least! There were no candles, embroidered altar linens, hymns, or altar for me to use. But the Holy Spirit was there, moving in profound ways as a group of grateful pilgrims gathered to praise God for the fellowship we had formed, to give thanks for our successful journey, and to offer our prayers that the lessons of the Camino might continue to grow in our hearts.

In our celebration of the Eucharist that day, Casa Anglicana became ours, and we became a part of its history. The realization that the Anglican Pilgrim Center was created for just this purpose and that I was part of fulfilling its vision was humbling, to say the least.

For the people who worked so hard to make this dream a reality, for all who believed, prayed, and donated, for the Episcopal Church in Spain, and for the ministry of The Anglican Pilgrim Center in Santiago, Thanks be to God!
