The Rev. Canon Spencer Reece, Vice-President

“I believe in this project with all my heart and soul.” The Rev. Canon Spencer Reece is charged with raising the funds to build a library in the centre in honor of the girls of Our Little Roses in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, he was educated at Wesleyan, Harvard and Yale Berkeley. Ordained in 2011 by the diocese of Southeast Florida, his home diocese, he served first as a chaplain to Bishop Carlos Lopez-Lozano from 2011 to 2012, from 2012 to 2013, he served as the chaplain at Our Little Roses, the only all-girl orphanage in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. In 2014, he was asked to return and serve the Spanish Episcopal Church as national secretary. The church is Spain is a uniquely indigenous form of Anglicanism, not a colonial implant, and thus its members are almost entirely Spanish speaking. Reece served as a bridge to the English speaking worlds. During this time he also created an international author series called The Unamuno Author Series. His work and life there were almost entirely in Spanish.

In 2020, he was called to be the interim priest-in-charge in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, a bilingual parish. He remains an active author, having published three additional books and edited one. His third book of poems, Acts, was published in 2024, the same year as his installation as Canon and Rector of St. Paul’s Church, Wickford, Rhode Island. More about Spencer can be found HERE.
